15th Annual International Conference

Join us October 3–5, 2018 at ADRP's 15th Annual International Conference, where we welcome donor relations and stewardship professionals from around the world to learn, network, and share with each other their extensive knowledge and expertise within the donor relations industry. At the conference, you will attend exciting sessions where fellow industry professionals will share great ideas, challenge norms, lead the way in our profession, and speak to varying experience levels, shop sizes, and institution types.

ADRP Volunteer Experience Enhanced

Megan McAndrews
Senior Director of Donor Relations
Syracuse University

ADRP is dependent on volunteers to thrive. Our volunteers began this organization in 2004, ran all aspects of operations until the staff was hired in 2011, and now continue to create and manage ADRP programming.

We want it to be easy to volunteer for ADRP. We want our volunteers to enjoy the time they spend in service to the organization. And we want our volunteers to encourage others to participate in this great organization. To that end, we are announcing a new volunteer-focused resource. The Volunteer Management Coordinator (the Coordinator) will enhance the ADRP volunteer experience and assist in the development and maintenance of our volunteer pipeline.

From Silo Syndrome to Cross-Departmental Collaboration

You want to expand and improve your team, right? I know you’re nodding, saying “of course, but…” I know all the ‘buts’ and have uttered them frequently over time! If adding staff members is not an option for you right now, there are still ways to grow your team and better serve your institution and your donors.

With a challenge from our new head of school to seek improvements and increase efficiencies, our campus is moving to centralize certain functions and transition to integrated database systems. We’ve changed the structure of the donor relations team, along with the ways we partner with and steward internal constituents. We’re working to demolish silos and build cross-departmental partnerships.

The 2nd Annual ADRP International Stewardship Awards

We are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2nd Annual ADRP International Stewardship Awards!

Last year’s awards winners were unveiled at the annual ADRP International Conference in Las Vegas where they blew everyone in attendance away in the following three categories: Digital Communications, Impact Reporting, and Events.

This year, we want to build on the momentum by showcasing the creativity and innovation your organization or institution has demonstrated in one of the categories over the past years.

If you are thinking of submitting one or multiple entries this year, but would like to know what works within the guidelines, please refer to the winners in each category last year.

We look forward to announcing this year’s winners in St. Louis!

How long have you worked in donor relations/stewardship and how did you get involved in this profession?

I have been involved in donor relations and stewardship for almost 12 years. While completing my master’s degree, I volunteered with various non-profit organizations and planned fundraising events on campus. Through my volunteer work, I realized I wanted to pursue the field full time upon the completion of my degree. I tried a few different fundraising roles first, and when I shifted into a stewardship role, I discovered that it is truly my passion! I see it as a real privilege to get to acknowledge people for a living.

Do You Support Monthly Giving?

Erica Waasdorp
President
A Direct Solution

You may know I’m a huge promotor of monthly giving. Why? Because it’s a great way to engage your small annual fund donors and increase your donor retention rates.

And as a recent statistic showed, sustainer giving is indeed growing, especially online. Last year, 20% of online giving came from monthly donors (aka sustainers, recurring donors; source: Blackbaud 2017 Luminate Benchmarks).

Needless to say, the interest in monthly giving has increased. Over the past few weeks, I’ve talked to many executive directors, development directors, donor relations and data-entry folks about their monthly giving programs. Some were just starting out; others were a bit further ahead. Every organization’s monthly donor size is different, simply because of the way they’ve grown their programs.

Write for The Hub: We Want to Hear From You!

The Hub is seeking article proposals for new monthly issues!

Do you have a success story you would like to share? How did you handle a particular problem or project that seemed insurmountable? Have you discovered effective tactics that help gain a seat at the table? What are your thoughts on best practices or new, emerging ideas that take a donor relations/stewardship program to the next level?

We want to encourage our members—new and experienced—to share their insights, best practices, and what works (or doesn’t work!) when planning their shop’s programming and responsibilities.

We welcome all submissions related to donor relations and stewardship, but we especially encourage ADRP members to step forward and share their expertise and experiences in the profession.

The 2018 submission form is now open. We have, once again, included the webinar topics for each month, in case you would like to tie your article to a specific webinar topic.

Please submit your article proposal today! We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!
