Anne Marie Halsey, Chair
2017 ADRP International Conference

September seems far away as we enjoy the warmth (and humidity) of the summer season. Autumn leaves will be here before we know it and a highlight of the season will be the "Bright Lights, Big Opportunities" of the 14th Annual ADRP International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada!

The 2017 Conference Planning Committee has assembled an all-star line-up of speakers. Our keynote speaker, Professor Adrian Sargeant, is one of the world's leading authorities on how to achieve growth in philanthropy. Pam King Sams, BA, CFRE, MIPP will educate and inspire us with her plenary session on the power of philanthropy on the global stage and the elevated role of donor relations and stewardship professionals. A new feature this year will be the "Master Classes " where more than 30 leading experts in our field will provide in-depth discussion opportunities for both seasoned and new-to-the-field professionals. We've also built in some great networking opportunities and local excursions

Las Vegas is the largest city in the state of Nevada. Nicknamed "The Entertainment Capital of the World", it is situated in the Mojave Desert of Southern Nevada. The city features many mega-hotel/casino complexes lavishly and shamelessly adorned with attention to detail creating a fantasy-like environment. The casinos and hotels evoke romance, mystery, and exotic destinations. You can travel the world in Vegas while you are at the 2017 ADRP International Conference!

2017 ADRP International Conference

The 2017 ADRP International Conference is made possible through the support of our corporate sponsors and exhibitors and we'd like to thank them for their continued generosity by listing their names in lights!

Well...OK...maybe we don't have a billboard with neon lights, but we are delighted to list them on the Conference website and in all of our print publications. Our industry experts are looking forward to joining us and sharing information about their products and creative solutions. Be sure to stop by to see them, thank them for their support and explore the many ways they can help take your stewardship and donor relations to the next level!

Mentor Mentee Program

Ed Manner, Chair
Attendee Experience Sub-Committee
2017 ADRP International Conference

"You gotta know when to hold 'em, ...know when to fold 'emis a catchy phrase that applies to this year's Mentor Program, which will be offered as part of attendees' Conference experience in Las Vegas. The Mentor Program connects experienced donor relations professionals with industry newcomers to encourage and guide their personal career development, share practiced knowledge and build meaningful industry relationships. If you are a seasoned industry expert and interested in helping others or a newcomer looking for additional input from an established professional, consider signing up for the Mentor Program. It has proven to be a 'Win/Win' for conference attendees for three consecutive conferences. For the programs fourth year, Las Vegas will be a dynamic setting to share knowledge, curiosity and have some fun.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Volunteer Opportunity

Ed Manner, Chair
Attendee Experience Sub-Committee
2017 ADRP International Conference

As professionals, we understand the value of generosity for those that give and for those that receive. In 2016, ADRP began a tradition of generosity associated with the International Conference and its host, the City of Pittsburgh. For this year's conference in Las Vegas, we are continuing this tradition by partnering with The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada. Attendees have the opportunity to simply pack a few items of new or gently used kids clothing to be donated on site at the Rio Hotel. Donations will be collected and presented to Executive Director Molly Latham, who will join us on Thursday to tell us a bit about the positive impact on the community that The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada makes.

The ADRP International Stewardship Awards

Kristen Lewis, Member
Marketing and Communications Sub-Committee
2017 ADRP International Conference

At this year's ADRP International Conference, we are excited to launch the inaugural ADRP International Stewardship Awards Competition (ADRP ISA's). The ADRP ISA's have been established as the premier awards program, recognizing excellence and outstanding accomplishments in the donor relations field. Awards are being given in three key categories: Events, Impact Reporting, and Digital Communications. Each category has been judged by a panel of five donor relations colleagues and industry experts. We look forward to announcing the winners in Las Vegas.

Conference App Update

ADRP's 2017 and 2018 conference apps will be provided through Pathable - the same organization we partnered with in Memphis! While the app was helpful in Memphis, we've worked to make some valuable upgrades that we know you'll love. Some new features are:

  • Pre-imported schedule based on your session selections during registration.
  • Complete session evaluations in real-time, so you can skip the post-conference survey!
  • Access conference maps to find your way around.
  • Ability to schedule meetings with fellow attendees, or privately message one another to set up a time to chat.

We'll be offering an FAQ page to introduce you to the app before you arrive onsite. We encourage you to take a peek. Spend some time getting familiar with the app, either on your phone or through your laptop and come prepared to make the most of your conference experience!

Sheryl A. Blair Scholarships

Flordelsia Dolan, Chair
Blair Scholarship Sub-Committee
2017 ADRP International Conference

For the past ten years, ADRP has awarded deserving conference goers with the Sheryl A. Blair Scholarship, awarded in honor of former board member, Sheryl Blair.

Over the years, the $1,000 stipends have supported the travel and expenses of 80 donor relation and stewardship professionals who have gone on to do wonderful things in their communities.

Last year, I had the opportunity to select the Newcomer and Experienced winners along with the 1157-Design Concepts Award Winner as a member of the Blair Scholarship selection committee. Pam Powell and I, along with several of last year's winners, serve on this year's committee. Other committee members such as Annie Madio, Carol Murphrey, Samantha Sanchez, and Meredeth Summers have provided feedback and thoughtful questions that have shaped this process and allowed us to select some great winners. I selected quotes from the winners' applications to showcase them and to share a snapshot of their story.

2017 ADRP International Conference

Conference attendees have a big opportunity on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 6:30 am to step away from the thrills of Las Vegas to balance their minds and bodies. Join ADRP member and certified instructor Rebecca (Jamison) Phillips for an hour of Vinyasa yoga. Vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga that connects movement and breathing to align the body and mind. Each morning includes a series of postures to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Plan to join other early risers as we relax and focus our minds on being Big Winners throughout the conference. Towels and water will be provided. Beginners welcome!
