Showcase Your Great Work in Donor Relations

ADRP has entered into a strategic partnership with the Growth in Giving Initiative and the Fundraising Effectiveness Project to showcase outstanding work in donor relations and stewardship. Our goal in this project is to show how an intentional focus on improving the donor experience can change fundraising outcomes and performance, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Mobile Donors: Four Strategies for a Stronger Relationship

John Killoran
CEO
@Pay

Donor retention is the cornerstone metric of a nonprofit's fundraising success. Attracting new donors whoare just as engaged in your mission as you are is much harder, more time-consuming, and more expensive than maintaining strong relationships with the donors who have already proven how much they care about your nonprofit's mission.

Increasingly, fundraising professionals are focusing more on donor stewardship as a model for donor retention. More thank-you notes are being sent, more mid-to-small-size donors are seeing their names on donor walls, and more communications are being tailored to each specific donor, facilitated by the newest marketing and communications software.

It's time to take the stewardship approach to retaining your mobile donors.

Write for The Hub: We Want to Hear From You!

The new year is here, and The Hub is seeking article proposals for new monthly issues!

Do you have a success story you would like to share? How did you handle a particular problem or project that seemed insurmountable? Have you discovered effective tactics that help gain a seat at the table? What are your thoughts on best practices or new, emerging ideas that take a donor relations/stewardship program to the next level?

We want to encourage our members—new and experienced—to share their insights, best practices, and what works (or doesn’t work!) when planning their shop’s programming and responsibilities.

We welcome all submissions related to donor relations and stewardship, but we especially encourage ADRP members to step forward and share their expertise and experiences in the profession.

The 2018 submission form is now open. We have, once again, included the webinar topics for each month, in case you would like to tie your article to a specific webinar topic.

Please submit your article proposal today! We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

Name: Darlene G. Harris-Vasser

Institution: Tennessee State University

Position: Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship

ADRP Member for 6 years.

How long have you worked in donor relations/stewardship, and how did you get involved in this profession?

While working for Tennessee State University, changes in the University structure impacted my current position in the Athletics Department.  The new Executive Director of the TSU Foundation recognized the need for, and the importance of having a Donor Stewardship professional in place, thus, the Assistant Director for Donor Relations and Stewardship position was created, and I was encouraged to apply for the position.  Shortly thereafter, in 2010, I joined ADRP.
