Get Your Tech On! Highlights from the 2019 Stewardship TechXchange
Cheryl Lintner Executive Director of Donor Relations Meridian Health Foundation
It seems like every year, each of us is tasked with doing more – with less. So how do we cope with the challenge of limited resources and increasing demand? Technology. Whether you like it or not, we operate in a technologically-savvy, Artificially Intelligent (AI)-world. And every day someone invents a new tech gadget, app, or program that is going to be a total game-changer…until the next one comes along. If you are not currently leveraging technology to do your job better, you are already behind.
Seamless from the Start: Marketing Automation for Donor Stewardship
Suzanne Bellanger Stewardship Marketing Manager Brown University
Great stewardship must begin at the start of the donor relationship. The very first interaction a donor has with a nonprofit organization leaves a lasting impression. If a donor has a positive first experience, it goes without saying they’ll be more likely to give again. They’ll be more likely to get (and stay) involved. And they’ll be more likely to talk about their experience with others who might support your cause.

ADRP Webinar, October 2019
With big data dominating the marketing mix, mobile emerging as a sole platform for so many in society, and video being 3–5 times more recallable than text alone, it’s no longer optional to have a digital strategy within your development shop. If you’re not using social media, video, and technology in your approach, you’re missing out on ways you could deepen the relationship and benefit your organization. Last month, Julie Ann Miller and Robyn Lorfink of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Brittany Fowler of University of Tennessee hosted a webinar featuring two technologies that are helping stewardship teams meet donors where they are: Ovrture and ThankView.

How long have you worked in donor relations/stewardship and how did you get involved in this profession?
I began my first donor relations job while I was still finishing my degree. I worked part-time for the Development Department at the local children’s hospital doing mostly stewardship reports for corporate and foundation grants. That was in January 2015 and I fell in love immediately with being able to share the impact of philanthropy, so I’ve been working full-time in the field since I graduated!
Write for The Hub: We Want to Hear from You!
The Hub is seeking article proposals for new monthly issues!
Do you have a success story you would like to share? How did you handle a particular problem or project that seemed insurmountable? Have you discovered effective tactics that help gain a seat at the table? What are your thoughts on best practices or new, emerging ideas that take a donor relations/stewardship program to the next level?
We want to encourage our members—new and experienced—to share their insights, best practices, and what works (or doesn’t work!) when planning their shop’s programming and responsibilities.
We welcome all submissions related to donor relations and stewardship, but we especially encourage ADRP members to step forward and share their expertise and experiences in the profession.
The submission form is available any time you have an article proposal to submit. We have included the webinar topics for each month, in case you would like to tie your article to a specific webinar topic.
Please submit your article proposal today! We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!
