Individualized stewardship plans (ISPs) are becoming a necessary ingredient of a successful donor relations program. When developed strategically, ISPs can do wonders to deepen relationships with donors and influence their behavior and giving decisions.

Led by facilitators with decades of ISP experience in health care, higher ed, and other nonprofit settings, the three-hour session will be structured as follows:

Hour 1: Attendees will learn ISP principles, see those principles in practice, and have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussion.

Hour 2: We will break into small groups of five attendees or fewer and one facilitator. Attendees will be grouped according to the type and size of their organization and their goals for an ISP program. Tailored to the needs of the attendees, small groups will discuss and brainstorm building, optimizing, and scaling a strategic ISP program.

Hour 3: We will reconvene as a full group to share top takeaways from each breakout group. The workshop will conclude with a quick tour of an ISP toolkit prepared for workshop attendees followed by a closing summary.

All experience levels, shop sizes, and types of organizations are encouraged as small breakout groups will be tailored to registrants.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will have learned about ISP principles, seen them in practice, and applied them to their own programs. To help put learnings into action, attendees will receive access to a toolkit of ISP templates, samples, and other resources.

  1. A set of principles and best practices that are applicable to any individualized stewardship program
  2. Examples of how principles apply real-life donor scenarios
  3. Advice and guidance to apply principles to attendee’s ISP program
  4. A set of templates, samples and other resources to support a strategic ISP program
