Student thank-you letters are one of the most effective touch points for reaching donors. This session will demonstrate how to streamline the thank-you process so donors receive one well-packaged thank-you letter packet with letters from all of their scholarship recipients.

Holly Kizer

Holly Kizer is the Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has worked in Higher Education and non-profit management for the past nine years and has developed and streamlined donor relations and stewardship at UT.

Avery G. Howard

Avery G. Howard joined the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Stewardship Team in June of 2015 as the Assistant Director of Stewardship. Though young in his career, he has a keen interest in donor reporting. Avery has been able to lead the campus in taking steps to improve the endowment and impact reporting processes for the entire university, including  nine colleges and various units and departments across campus.

This has led to more transparency for existing donors and engaging new donors of the university. Avery also enjoys collaborating with many campus partners, chief of which being the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Office of Shared Services and Compliance. With these partnerships, he is able to ensure scholarships are being awarded across campus and endowed funds are used according to donor intent. This is of top priority for Avery. As an alumnus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Avery feels a deeper connection and passion for what he has the privilege to do each day and enjoys working with each member of the Stewardship Team.

Brittany Fowler

Brittany Fowler has been passionately serving as the assistant director of donor relations at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, since July 2015. In her role, she works with alumni and friends of the university to ensure that all gifts are thanked timely and appropriately and promotes donor retention by showing the impact of gifts across campus through various outlets including mail, email, social media, scholarship thank you letters, handwritten notes, website, and events throughout the year.  Brittany manages the stewardship process of annual gifts, first-time gifts, planned gifts, and consecutive year giving. This past fall she streamlined the scholarship recipient thank you note process and reinvigorated the Accomplished Alumni Award program.  Brittany has a bachelor's degree in management from Clemson University and is currently enrolled in the graduate school at UT.
