The Journey of a Campaign Launch

Session Description:This session will educate donor relations and stewardship professionals on how to launch a campaign by targeting specific stakeholders, creating unique experiences for donors through a multitude of channels, creatively showing impact of private support, and effectively involving the campus community in the campaign. By using a multi-faceted approach, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, was able to engage more than 1,000 students, faculty, donors, and community members in launch activities throughout the week of the launch. The campaign committee created experiences and impact interactions that had never been done or seen at UT before. |

Brittany Fowler Brittany Fowler has been passionately serving as the assistant director of donor relations at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, since July 2015. In her role, she works with alumni and friends of the university to ensure that all gifts are acknowledged appropriately and in a timely manner and promotes donor retention by showing the impact of gifts across campus through various outlets including mail, email, social media, scholarship thank-you letters, handwritten notes, website, and events throughout the year. Brittany manages the stewardship process of annual gifts, first-time gifts, planned gifts, and consecutive year giving. She also streamlined the scholarship recipient thank-you note process and reinvigorated the Accomplished Alumni Award program. Brittany was heavily involved in the planning and implementation of the interactive campaign reception. Brittany has a bachelor's degree in management from Clemson University and is currently enrolled in the graduate school at UT. |

Avery Howard Avery G. Howard has been a member of the Development and Alumni Affairs Team at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for nearly five years. While learning the operations from the ground up, he takes a great interest in endowment and impact reporting for donors. He has a keen concern for seeking out the correct information and ensuring campus colleagues are utilizing donor funds to the fullest of their intent. Avery works closely with the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships to ensure that more than 400 Central Campus scholarships are awarded in a timely manner. He also oversees the campus pledge reminder system to guarantee donors are aware of when their scheduled payments are due. Avery is an alumnus of UT and is privileged to have been on campus for more than 11 years. |
