Trend Talks: Mobilizing Young Philanthropists

Thursday, September 18
11:45 AM - 12:15 PM

The Pink Polka Dots Guild was founded in memory of eleven year-old Sydney Coxon, who died in 2006 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. That same year, three of Sydney’s friends, who were in the sixth grade, started the guild to raise money to help researchers find more effective treatments for brain tumors. To date the group has raised and donated back over $600,000 to pediatric brain tumor research. Margo Coxon, Sydney’s younger sister, just passed the presidency of the guild on and will share how the group is inspiring a new generation of philanthropists to make a difference.
