Donors experiences and expectations leading up to, during, and immediately following significant philanthropy are both complex and varied.  This interactive and engaging workshop will explore key concepts for creating meaningful return on philanthropic investment that encourage deeper engagement. Greg Sheridan, Senior Associate Vice President, will share how University of Washington has applied these concepts to increase the impact of their stewardship efforts and drive greater returns for donors and the university.  This workshop will be based on nationwide research of major donor motivations conducted by Advancement Resources.

reg Sheridan

Greg Sheridan has over 37 years of advancement experience in higher education. During this span, he has been a key leadership professional in the implementation of four capital campaigns. All were successfully concluded and exceeded their identified goals. His comprehensive background in all areas of advancement (fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and communications, and fund management) make him an exceptional resource for his colleagues and other professional organizations in the nonprofit community.

Sheridan has worked at Montana Tech, University of California, Davis, Eastern Washington University, Washington State University, and the University of Washington. At UW he is currently the senior associate vice president for constituency programs overseeing the advancement programs of over 23 colleges, schools and units. The University of Washington concluded one of the largest campaigns for a public university by raising over $2.6 billion in 2008 and is now preparing for its next campaign.


Ben Golding

Ben consults with many of the nation’s leading healthcare organizations, academic institutions and non-profit organizations on donor-centric development practices that drive transformational philanthropy. Among his institutional clients are the University of Washington, Sutter Health, United Way Worldwide, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Minnesota Children’s Hospitals and Clinics, Northwestern University, and University of British Columbia.

Ben has been honored to introduce Advancement Resources’ breakthrough concepts at a number of national associations and healthcare systems, including Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Minnesota Planned Giving Association, Northwest Development Officers Association, Adventist Health Systems, and CHRISTUS Health Network.

Ben also serves as managing partner at Mindseye Project Partners. Mindseye provides donor engagement services for healthcare and academic institutions, with primary focus on inspiring philanthropy through the power of personal stories. Mindseye’s interview and video production teams capture and produce donor stories, vision stories, and impact stories that are shared through numerous channels, including recognition events, donor walls, social media, and other avenues.
